    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate how much concrete I need?▼
    Volume (cubic yards) = Length (ft) × Width (ft) × Depth (ft) ÷ 27. For a 10×10 ft slab at 4 inches (0.33 ft) deep: 10 × 10 × 0.33 ÷ 27 = 1.22 cubic yards. Always add 10% for waste.
How many tiles do I need for a room?▼
Tile Quantity = Room Area ÷ Tile Area × 1.10 (for 10% waste). For a 100 sq ft room with 1 sq ft tiles: 100 × 1.10 = 110 tiles. Our tile calculator handles any tile size automatically.
How many gallons of paint do I need?▼
One gallon covers approximately 350–400 sq ft. Total area = (Perimeter × Height) − Door/Window area. Multiply by number of coats. Our paint calculator estimates this from room dimensions.
How do I calculate roofing squares?▼
1 roofing square = 100 sq ft. First measure the roof footprint, then multiply by the pitch factor (e.g., 1.118 for a 6/12 pitch) to get actual roof area, then divide by 100 for squares. Add 10–15% for waste.
How much lumber do I need for a project?▼
Lumber is measured in board feet: Board Feet = (Thickness × Width × Length) ÷ 144 (all in inches). Our lumber calculator converts linear feet to board feet and estimates the total quantity and cost for any project.
